Is Social Networking the Next Wave of the Internet?

Monday, November 20th, 2006

It seems that the online world is becoming highly interactive and social environment.

Some of the fastest growing sites on the Internet are known as “Social Networking” site.

Are these sites important?  With Google’s recent purchase of YouTube for 1.6 billion dollars, it speaks volumes of what’s happening online!  In fact, there’s a ‘video  war’ going on out there - YouTube, MySpace’s videos, Yahoo videos are the leading ‘video’ sites.

MySpace is the largest such social networking site.  Started in 2003, the number of accounts there exceeded 130 million!!!  Other well-known sites are Xanga, LinkedIn, Xing (formerly OpenBC), Friendster, DirectMatches, AdLandPro.
